Barrow Island, Western Australia, September 2014 – Bridgemans of Vancouver, BC is pleased to announce that it has been contracted by US integrated energy company Chevron to provide accommodations for up to 1400 workers currently employed on the completion phase of the company’s massive Gorgon LNG Plant located on Barrow Island off the coast of Western Australia.

In order to provide services beginning next month, Bridgemans will deploy Bridgemans Europa, a 650-foot full-service Floatel accommodation vessel that is in the final stages of a 33-million Euro ($46-million Can) refit and conversion at dry dock facilities in Turku, Finland. Once completed, the ship will feature 1400 single-guest rooms with private ensuite washrooms, a 550-seat dining room, a lunch room, four lounges, meeting rooms, an internet lounge, first aid room, exercise facilities, theatre, laundry room and accommodations for 220 crew members.

“The Gorgon project is a perfect example of a situation in which Floatels are the only practical and cost-effective solution to house workers,” says Brian Grange, president of Bridgemans. “Not only will Europa provide luxurious accommodations at the job site, but it will take only a month to have it in position and it will have zero environmental impact on this ecologically sensitive marine area.”

Bridgemans Europa will depart Turku within two weeks and will set sail via the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal for Australia, where it will go into service in mid-October.
